Comprehensive Eye Exams

There is more to your eyes than just your vision. Our comprehensive eye exams take a deeper look into not just your glasses prescription, but the health of your eyes. At American Fork Vision Center, our optometrists will use many different tools to assess the health of your eyes. These tools may include high definition cameras help for retinal diseases and microscopes and for corneal diseases.

Dilation of the pupils may be necessary because it is an important procedure that helps the doctor to determine your overall ocular health.  Our techs will offer an alternative fundus photo which is a retinal camera that can take images of the back of your eye. These images help the optometrist to document and compare our findings at later visits, and are used as educational tools so you can better understand the health of your eyes.

We have a comprehensive eye exam for adults and children. We recommend getting your eyes examined at least once a year starting at age 3.

Note: We are fully wheelchair accessible so the exam can be performed in the comfort of your wheelchair seat.

Treatment of Ocular Diseases

Eye diseases should be detected early for a better outcomes and vision loss prevention.    Our Optometrists diagnose and treat a wide variety of eye conditions such as pink eye, macular degeneration, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, dry eye, amblyopia, and cataracts. We are also proficient in removing foreign bodies from the cornea.

Dry Eye Management

Dry eyes have a variety of causes and there are many reasons as to why you may have it. If you’re struggling with dry eyes it’s important to be tested for the your primary cause so a treatment can be tailored to you. Ask us more about dry eye at your next comprehensive eye exam.

Lasik Co-Management

Our doctors offer pre and post-operative care for patients who undergo LASIK, PRK, and other visual-correcting procedures.   Lasik Surgery is a good option for certain patients who want to have good vision without glasses or contact lenses. We work with local refractive surgeons to co-manage patients.  When we comanage the patient with the surgeon a discount is offered over going directly to the surgeon.

Our optometrist will do a pre-operative assessment to determine whether you are a good candidate for surgery and discuss your options. After your surgery, you will be followed for 6 months to ensure your vision and eye health are on target and your eye is healing well.

Myopia Control

Myopia is also known as nearsightedness and is dramatically on the rise and can cause possible sight-threatening conditions.  It means seeing well at near (reading) but blurry for things far away (driving).  Many believe that the increased use of electronic devices in today’s world is one of the causes contributing to the it’s rise.  We offer the latest treatments proven to slow the progression of myopia.

Frames

We carry a large selection of frames including designer frames from the most popular brands as well as Titanium and Flex frames. We also carry a large selection of sunglass frame brands including Oakley, Ray Ban, Maui Jim, and others.

Contact Lens Fittings

Every eye is different, so we fit all sorts of contact lenses.  A contact lens fitting is needed to determine a contact lens prescription. This service can be added to any comprehensive eye exam. A contact lens is a medical device that sits on a very sensitive surface of the eye called the cornea. We specialize in the fitting of all types of contact lenses.  We tailor each fitting to the unique features of your cornea and lifesthyle.  Some patients acutally need contact leneses medically.  This means they see and function better with contact lenses than they would with spectacles. One example of this is keratoconus.   Many vision plans have a medically needed contact lens benefit and our optometrists] specialize in fitting them.  Inquire at your next visit if you think you might qualify for this valuable benefit.

In-Office Repairs

We do in house repairs including nose pads and screw replacements. We also do repairs on all frames including semi-rimless and rimless. All frames can be adjusted to a proper fit by our staff in office. Most repairs are free with the purchase of our frame.

Facilities & Equipment

We do in house edging so patients do not have to spend weeks without their glasses. Contacts take 3-4 business days to arrive after they are ordered.
